I got pink hair for October!

My hairdresser is doing pink hair extensions for the month of October so I got one thinking Emily would get one and she did not get one. Oh well. Emily and her friend Caitlyn came home for the night. Emily got her hair done and then wanted to go to the mall to look for an all-white dress for her ZETA initiation in 7 weeks. I was afraid once summer was over, she would never find an all-white dress so we lucked out and found one right away and it was on clearance for ONLY $15. I love a good sale!! We closed down Concord Mills Mall, then went to Target and shopped there till 10 and closed it down too. The girls left at 8:30 this morning since they have a home football game and wanted to tailgate before the game. We woke up early to wash her jeep (it was so dirty) and then I cooked them eggs and bacon before they headed back. Hopefully she will come home next weekend as the ZETA sisters are going to walk in the Race for the Cure in Charlotte and we can see her then too.

How do you like my hair?

Working on more necklaces this weekend.

We ran to Home Depot this morning and bought some wood to make some necklace displays for me to put my necklaces on for the craft fair. We had most of the wood already so Charlie just needed a few extra pieces. Each stand holds 8 necklaces. What do you think so far?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

and even though its not October yet, I wanted to go ahead and make my blog pink for the month of October :). Pink is my favorite color!!! Isn't my header great? Angie made this for me last year or was it 2 years ago Angie? I just love it!!!

Emily found out today she is the proud new member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and she is very excited!! One of their goals is to raise money for breast cancer awareness so I am very proud of Ms. Emily!!!!

It has been almost 3 years ago next week that I lost one of my best friends Robin. September 22nd she has been gone 3 years. That is hard to believe and I sure do miss her laughing, our talks and just hanging out with her!!

I had my mammogram last week and all is A-OK. So get those mammograms ladies. Its so important!!!

With October coming up, I am seeing lots more breast cancer items in stores

Yesterday I found these neat legal size envelopes at Walmart. I bought 2 boxes but might go back and get more. They have a breast cancer pink ribbon on the bottom right and then inside teeny tiny pink ribbons. They are perfect for my swaps when I mail them so I might as well stock up now. They look pink here but they are actually white.
It was almost 3 years that breast cancer took one of my bestest friends Robin. 3 years next week!! Its hard to believe!!

Christmas Tags

I am in a Christmas tag swap at my local stamp store and this is the tag I made. There are 15 of us in each group so I will get 15 different tags back in October. I can't wait to see the others.

What does one do when your cord on your washer necklace hides the face that's on it?

I glue on jewelry bails to the back. Cute huh???

The second it turns cooler, I cook my Tortilla Soup

Its my absolute favorite of all the soups I make. Here is the recipe in case you would like to try it....

Tortilla Soup

3 boneless chicken breasts, cubed
2 1/2 cups water
1/2 onion, chopped
4 oz chopped green chilies
4 chicken bouillon cubes
1 can mexican stewed tomatoes
1 can peeled tomatoes
8 oz tomato sauce

Simmer on low for an hour. Serve with tortilla chips, shredded cheddar, sour cream and bacon bits. I have never used bacon bits but need to try it sometime.

This is just the best soup ever!!!

50 degrees in September?

Aaaah, it feels wonderful outside!! It was 50 degrees when I woke up this morning. I immediately made myself a cup of hot chocolate. The first of many more to come this season!! LOL I just wish it would stay this cool but I know its going back in the 90's this week. Oh well. It will be soon enough (that's what Charlie says, he hates cooler weather)
