Celebrate You

I made this graduation card for my cousin's daughter who is graduating this summer and going onto college in the Fall. For the background, I did the Polished Stone technique and I watched this video. For mine, I used Copic marker refills and Copic Colorless Blender solution onto glossy card stock (I only had Yupo glossy cardstock to use)

Cards in Envy - No Patterned Paper

For this week's challenge at Cards in Envy, the challenge is No Patterned Paper (Make a card WITHOUT any patterned paper).  You can see the challenge here. All cards must fit into a standard size envelope for easy mailing.

This card was really fun to make. I made the background using Oxide inks and splashes of water on watercolor paper. I then water-colored my whale and die cut him out. I stamped the waves in Oxide inks (that's the beauty of Oxide inks vs Distress inks, you can stamp directly into the Oxide inks and it comes out beautiful). I fussy cut the waves and adhered it onto the card.

Rock Painting Event

We had a rock painting event this weekend at our local Lowe's Foods. We had about 25 people come out, young and old. It was a lot of fun!  We are already talking about doing it again next month :).

Here are some pics I took:

We got to sit at a huge picnic type bench table and paint rocks
for 2 hours. It was fun meeting everyone in our
Harrisburg + Rock group on Facebook.

We supplied all the rocks, paints, and brushes.
A lot of shoppers just "stopped" by while
doing their grocery shopping.

The final rocks the adults and kids painted.
I demo'd how to use Modge Podge using
fabric and napkins and they all
seemed to really love that.(I think I
missed about 10 more rocks)

Hard at work

I painted the chick on the left and a little
girl wanted to make one just like it. She
did an excellent job making hers.

Happy Easter tag!

I decided to make some Easter tags this year for some of my stamping friends, instead of an actual Easter card. I love these tag die cuts by Avery Elle. I stamped the bunny, then colored him with Copic markers and added some washi tape underneath the cute little guy. I stamped the sentiment using my Hero Arts individual letters to spell out HAPPY EASTER.

I love mom

I was so excited when I found this set at Hobby Lobby marked down to $2.50 (original price was $9.99) by Hampton Art. Its one of those multi-step stamps that you have to stamp parts of the bird in 3 different colors. I had never tried this before but I love how it came out. Sending this out to a cute mom who is like a "real mom" to me for Mother's Day.

Love * Respect * Trust * Compassion

I needed some everyday cards to have on hand - just in case I need a card to send. And this is what I came up with. I love this stamp by Impression Obsession. I watercolored the background using Tim Holtz Oxide inks - the sky was done using Salty Ocean and the grass was done using Lucky Clover. I colored the flower, stems, leaves and hearts with my Tombow markers.

Flamingos on the beach

When I saw this flamingo set at Avery Elle marked down to only $3, I had to get it and I am so glad I did. One can never have too many flamingo sets in their stash, right? For this card, I used my Oxide inks for the sky and for the water.

happy easter

Easter is just a little over 3 weeks away and here is my Easter card this year. I got out my Tim Holtz watercolors - the Oxide inks are wonderful for making backgrounds. Here, I used Salty Ocean for the sky and for the sun and the bunny, I used my Jane Davenport watercolors. For the sky, I literally just put down a block of ink onto my craft mat, squirted it with water and painted it onto the paper and let it dry. Then, I got out my grass punch by Martha Stewart and punched out grass in 2 different green colors for the grass.

I really like it!!

Cards in Envy - Green Things

Cards in Envy's first challenge for March is Green Things (Any theme as long as it's got GREEN) You can see the challenge here. All cards must fit into a standard size envelope for easy mailing.

This card was real easy to make. I put the embossing folder through my Big Kick and then I smeared 3 different Oxide inks all over it. I used Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron, and Lucky Clover. Then, I colored the cactus with Copic markers.

I hope you will join us at Cards in Envy
